There’s a lot to be said for close proximity to San Francisco. San Mateo County has a vibrant arts scene featuring many low-key performance opportunities for locals. Here are the top three open mics in San Mateo County.
On the first Tuesday of the month, local performers flock like wild seagulls to a musical open mic at 23 Club in Brisbane, a 1950s style saloon with a Country & Western theme.
On Thursday nights, you’ll have a jolly good time attending Auri’s open mic at Cameron’s in Half Moon Bay. Cameron’s is a British style pub with more than 75 beers to choose from, and many assorted knick knacks to keep you amused. Emphasis is on musical performances. Performers get as many as three songs for as long as 15 minutes. Call 650-726-5705 for details.
Finally, stop by B-Street Billiards in San Mateo on a Wednesday night for a cool, musician-friendly open mic, and maybe a round of pool. B-Street Billiards is located at 164 South B Street. Each performer gets three songs or a ten minute set. Sign up time is at 8:30 pm. The show runs until 10:30 pm. Call 650-343-1875 for info.
