Best Bay Area GO Clubs

Despite being invented more than 2,500 years ago, the popularity of the game called “Go”
never dies. Go has more than 40 million players worldwide, with the vast majority from Asian
countries. The first prize at professional Go tournaments often exceeds a quarter million dollars.

SAN FRANCISCO

The San Francisco Go Club meets at 500 8th Avenue (at Anza). Club hours are Tuesday
evenings from 7:30 pm to 10:00 pm, and weekends between 3 pm and 6 pm. Admission is free

EAST BAY

The Berkeley Campus Go Club meets on the UC Berkeley campus one night each week when
school is in session. Check the club website for current meeting place and time.

Also drop by the Berkeley Go Club at 2161 Shattuck Avenue near Center Street. Players meet
on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays in Suite 222. Visit berkeleygoclub.org for details. Call
510-501-8314 to be let in if the door is locked.

While you’re in the East Bay, why not visit the Livermore Go Club? Players meet at Panama
Red Coffee Company, located at 2115 1st Street, on the first and third Saturdays of each month,
starting at 2:00 pm
In Oakland, you can play at the North Oakland Go Club. Players meet on Sundays from 11 am
to 3 pm at the It’s Your Move Game and Hobbies store, located at 4920 Telegraph Avenue.
